I have a client who has a domino server running on Japan and they wanted to put an additional server here in our country, this is easy to implement but the problem is they're using a different language(japanese language & Characters) and where using a going to use a standard english language here. Is there a way to convert a japanese version databases into english version.
One of the databases need to be converted is the names.nsf of the domino server in Japan. Any ideas on how can i do this? huge help please!!!

there is a free product by Lotus called Global Domino workbench which will translate applications from a language to another - not sure how it works but it is available for version 5.0 the lotus website of has this product for download

If you are asking for something that translates all words in one database to a different language, then go carefully as they do not normally do a very good job of "Translating".

If you are worried about mail, db functionality across the different languages then there is no problem doing this.

The best thing for you to do would be to set up a test environment and trial it yourself. Are english users going to be expected to input into the Japanese database or are you just looking to make the Japanese db accessible to Japanese users?.

Thanks for the replies guys! we were expecting both, japanese and english users may input into the database. is this possible?
