We are going to be putting a DS3 between two locations, our current one here in Portland and a new location going in in Omaha. We are planning on setting the DS3 to look like PRI T1's so we can route call information between our G3r and G3si. We'll use a Adtran MX2800 mux to break out the T1's on each end.
My question has to do with TSU's. I've read that a TSU is really needed for the carrier's benifit for doing loopbacks and other tests and it's not needed for the circuits themselves. I've also read that they seem to work for some but not for others.
Since we plan on having about 18 T1's set up, not having to buy 18 TSU's would save a good bit of money, if it does work. My question has to do with the connector that goes on the back of the PBX and connects the cable to the TN464F card. Can I use a 259A plug (and I assume I'll need a T1 crossover plug since it will be a straight through T1 cable) to connect the cable? If I don't use a TSU, do I set the DS1 board as Other or Integrated?
Hopefully it will work.
Thanks
Mike
