Crystal Folks:

With Crystal 9, why can I not save specific database connect username and password information with the .RPT file? When deploying and running it outside the designer using RAS (or even locally) I am prompted for a database username and password.

When I'm designing a report, I can change the datasource through a (convoluted, confusing) GUI, but, after switching datasources, there is nothing to save.

We don't what to use "Integrated Security" because Intranet users shouldn't have to have login access via their network login.

WHAT AM I MISSING??
Thanks,
-Brad

Crystal reports NEVER stores password information inside the report. This is due to security concerns.

You would need to provide the password information programmatically or remove security from your database.

hth,
- Ido CUT, Visual CUT, and DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

Thanks for the response! However, I don't understand how to do it programatically. Are you talking about when it is invoked at runtime? If so, I have found no reference to a viewer property when invoking via InteractiveViewer.asp in the documentation shipped with RAS.

I've found no "default" connection properties within the RAS management console.

Even if I did find out how to set it via scripting inside the report (documentation seems to be abysmal) then we're still facing a security issue...

Thanks again,
-Brad
