Hello-I’m having an issue with Modular Messaging (I think). Today I added a new station in the switch w/ standard cover to MM then created the new subscriber in MM as I normally do. This afternoon I get a call from the customer stating that when callers call their extension and go to cover the get a MM recording is asking them to “enter the mail box number of the person they are trying to reach or if you have a mail box on this system press #”. I have tried just about everything I can think of but I can not get any type of intro greeting to play on this subscriber account?? Please help!

Thanks in advance for the help!

That message means the extension does not have a mailbox. First make sure they are at the extension that you think they are at. I have had people sit in an office and not notice that their extension is not on the phone. Then make sure the mailbox number an d the pbx extension both have the extension in their MM account. I have typo'd that in the past and had this problem.

Thanks for all of the info - we are still not working? Checked everyithing suggested, Avaya has had the ticket for a week now tried many things but no fix yet...

We had a similar case. In our case, the suspected mailbox programming had been fat fingered when the extension number was put in. The mailbox number and the extension number did not match and it was only by one digit. It would be worth double checking your mailbox programming.

I am having a similar problem with playing the subscriber's NAME rather than the PERSONAL GREETING. Exchange Store - Audix TUI - Personal Greeting IS ON and ACTIVE FOR ALL CALLS. Rel 5.2 SIP integration - not the integration - it's getting to the mailbox, but not playing PERSONAL GREETING. And not for ALL subscribers, just a handful. Greeting is stored in Exchange and Name is stored on MSS, I am told by Avaya.

If you are truely using MM for Exchange then there is no MSS involved there. The personal greeting is stored in the subscriber's mailbox. The name prompt is stored in the AD user account as well as being copied to each MAS's FEDB. If you are hearing just the name prompts then 1 of a few things might be happening. Is the MAS online with the Exchange server that is hosting that specifc subscriber's mailbox? Is the MAS in offline mode? Can the greeting be heard by logging into the mailbox through the TUI and going into the menu to record greetings?

I have seen this before and it is the SIP call type that can mess it up.

Are you using just one PBX or are you using 2 or more?
