In CR 9 I have created a main report that returns real estate information specific to owner name matched to an input parameter. I have grouped the report by parcel numbers within owner. The detail section displays a line for each billing year within parcel number, including bill number, assessment amount and bill balance. I also have in this section an on-demand subreport that will create a formatted page containing more detailed parcel and tax information.

When I execute the main report the subreport only returns data when executed from the last detail line of the report.
Executing this subreport from any other detail line only returns a formatted page with no data.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

On what field do you have the subreport linked to the main report?

Check the record selection in the subreport. When you make links from the main report, it automatically adds a selection there. Which is mostly what you'll want, but sometimes not.

I have double checked and still do not see anything amiss.
Poor eyesight? Bad assumptions? Quite possible. The fields that I am passing for selection in the subreport are parcel and year. I have tried displaying those (pm-) fields on the subreport and see that the passed data is correct in all cases. Again my results are as such:

Main report
Group Parcel 000001
line 1 year 1996 bill 99999 $assessed $balance SUBREPORT
line 2 year 1997 bill 99999 $assessed $balance SUBREPORT
.
.
line 9 year 2004 bill 99999 $assessed $balance SUBREPORT

Selecting the on-demand SUBREPORT on any line prior to the last returns only the subreport page with no data. The last line (in this case line 9) will return (correct)data on the subreport.

Can you verify that the subreports return the correct data when run on their own? You are essentially saying that only the subreport with the most recent data is working. Is it possible that older data is archived and not available for the subreports or something like that?

From within a subreport, you can use 'Save Subreport As' to make the subreoprt into a stand-alone report. See how it works on its own.

Thanks lbass for the suggestion that the older data may be archived. I did in fact make a bad assumption regarding the data that is available through the particular view that I was using. It appears that only 2004 data is available and I am not sure that we have a view available for prior years.
I have determined that the data is available in tables so I may just go that route.
