I get this error in my Access 2000 when trying to compact and repair...the DB is 400 000kb+ but there is more than enough space on the disk...and I have had it up to 900 000kb at times with no problem...but now suddenly it throws this error...any ideas?
Extra space is all you need, not defragmentation (although that is a good idea, but for other reasons). My users get this error when their C drive gets too full (usually with junk in their root, or temp folder). Karl
Much thanks, do you think this is the issue even if the DB is on a different drive? I just cleaned my C via 'Disk Cleanup' and there was a little bit of junk.
I am offering that as a possible solution, as that has solved the problem for some of my users (and yes, their database was not on the C drive, but cleaning up junk files from the root (of C) and temp folder (on C) solved the problem). They usually find some big stranded file that unexpectedly chewed up a lot of space (delete and empty recycle bin). Although, the same problem could be caused by the gradual filling up of the drive.
