I can log into BCM Monitor and also log in with web browser. However when I try to use Element Monitor, my user/pass does not work. This is a new install no one has accessed this unit previously. Any ideas?

Is this a BCM 50 I am guessing.

What username and password are you using.

Marshall

It seems like an obvious thing, but are you using the right IP address? Also, are you connecting via the OA&M port (the one all the way to the left on the bottom)? By default, the OA&M will throw out an IP via DHCP and you should be able to see the BCM on 10.10.11.1

Yes. This is a BCM 50. I did receive my 10.10.11.2 IP. I was able to log into the GUI on the box with the default password and name. The Element manager locates the box, however, the nn****/Pls****** combo does not work to let me access the programming.

I am using the nn password supplied in the documentation. I tried the ee password as well. I was careful to be aware of case type.

The username and password for the BCM 50 is nnadmin, PlsChgMe!.The network you put the BCM 50 on does it have a DHCP server?

Marshall

This is not on the network yet. I am using the correct passwords. They just do not work with Element Manager.

Have you got the new version of the Nortel Website?

Marshall

If you have a set hooked up, you can log in using the set and create a new username and password. I know this is redundant, but are you sure you are including the "!" at the end of PlsChgMe! I missed it on my first couple of times.

Have you set your PC up with a croos over cable and confirmed you have set you NIC card to obtain IP address automatically.

Can you ping the BCM 50?

Can you open a web browser session to the BCM 50?

Have you got an IP address from the BCM 50.

Marshall

I learned today that if the BCM didn't assign the IP via DHCP, it won't talk to you on the OA&M port. Even if you static assign the correct values, it won't talk to your workstation unless it was the server that allocated a DHCP IP address for your workstation. I just found out the hard way. It must have some sort of security built in that your IP must be in the DHCP table to communicate.

BCM is going back! DHCP and all that worked fine. I could log into GUI, however, I could not log into Element Manager.

I'll try another box.

Thank you

When you log into GUI, are you prompted to download element manager, or did you do that aleady?
