I am trying to set up a remote client from home and I am running into a problem. Our main office is a win NT 4.0 machine with a winroute pro firewall inbetween the NT and SDSL router. My client is running win ME with zone alarm as the firewall. I have set up a VPN connection on the client and am able to connect to the NT 4.0 machine. The problem starts here, I am not able to access any of the shared folders on the NT. When I try to search for the NT machine, either by IP or name I don't get any results. I am able to ping the nt machine. So I tried to use net use and it tells me it can not find the computer. I have enabled NETbui and TCP/IP on the client VPN connection.

Usually when you are connected to a VPN tunnel, all the traffic by default goes thro the tunnel. Take a look at the "route print" statement in the dos window. you might need to add a static route for your local machines. Hope this is helpful.
