MM3.1 with exch 2003
its been up for awhile

when I try to enable a user with certain what I thought is an unused extension

the warning I get is

“ warning : the extension number you entered is being used by :

Integration will not work for the mailboxes with this extension “

being that the name field is blank made me think so I then did the query and see its associated with a AD account that is not longer valid

I have tried a FEDB resync but still sees it in FEDB query

my thoughts are someone removed the AD account without removing the extension number , mailbox number and uncheking " enable modular mesaging " from the MM tab
prior

this was done quite some time ago as its never been able to assign that certain number -

any other recourse ?

Would have thought this is definetley a problem with the FEDB have seen it before on earlier versions if you have tried a resync then you may need a FEDB rebuild.

When this happens in our office, we have to build a temp active directory account under the name that it was originally built under, give it the same extension number, wait for replication, then remove modular messaging. Only then are we able to reuse the extension number. After so many of these sitting in the database. The MM servers will go busy. I pulled the FEDB query to match up the name which will have to be exactly how it was orginally built.

thank you but I think they aleady tried that but could be they did not add it back to match what the FEDB
pulled - will give this a try -

also may have to try the rebuild

thank you all for the replies

cheers: )

with no name being displayed that usually indicates that multiple accounts/FEDB entries are associated with that number.

It could be an account with a secondary number or an account with that number as the primary extension/mailbox.

FEDB resync should help out but may not resolve it completely, but certainly suggested.

texeric ,
FEDBquery and search of extension # only shows 1 user associted with said extension # yet if you do a find in AD I am unable to find the user as they were disabled and removed

I tried FEDB resync beofre and no resolve and then I did a FEDB rebuild ( this resolved it )

If you are running MM 3.1 there isn't a rebuild, only a resync. And that would have cleared your entry in the FEDB that is no longer in AD.

Either way, glad you got it fixed.
