I have several clients get errors like this every so often when they are trying to use DTS .

Unable to find the source database for Transfer on the source server.

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Server user 'username' is not a valid user in database 'masonsthejewellers'.

In every case, the customer is getting that same database "masonsthejewellers" showing up in the error. The customers are trying to conenct to a totally different database with a totally different user that is in no way connected to "masonsthejewellers". So i am totally confused as to where this error is coming from.
They can then try their DTS script later, and it will work fine.

I have recently moved all databases to a new server, hoping this problem would go away, but it appears to have followed the database. Note, I did not copy the MASTER database to the new server.
There are no orphan users on any databases, as I have already cleaned up any that did exist.

Does anyone have any other clue what could be causing this.

Sounds like they have 2 ODBCs on their machines with the same name, with two different dbs defined.

Check that out. Check System, User AND File DSNs on their ODBCs. Then delete the Masonsthejewellers related ODBCs.
