Not a Valid month

Hello all, I am trying to run a SQL query against Oracle 10g using VBA.

the query is:-
SELECT CALL.CALL_NUMBER FROM CALL, CALL_EVENT, THREAD WHERE CALL.CALLOID=CALL_EVENT.CALLOID AND CALL_EVENT.CALL_EVENTOID=THREAD.CALL_EVENTOID AND THREAD.TYPE_OF_WORK_ID='MANUAL' AND (THREAD.BOOKING_DATE BETWEEN TO_DATE('01/09/2006' ,'mm/dd/yyyy') and TO_DATE('30/09/2006' ,'mm/dd/yyyy')) AND CALL.CONTRACT_ID='SOMETHING' ORDER BY CALL.CONTRACT_ID


When I execute this I get the ORA-01843: this is not a vaild month error. Any help please

obviously '30' is Not a Valid month.
