Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on this issue we hear after a meeting with a client.

We're getting ready to upgrade to XP Pro next week and a client of ours mentioned that at their office they were having Windows XP Pro problems and their quote was

OurClients said:
We recently upgraded to Windows XP Pro and found that there was a problem with path name limitations, specifically they mentioned only 200 characters were allowed

I'm not too clear on how this would be an issue.

Thanks all

There is an XP error message that says "the path is too deep". You might be able to find something at Microsoft's site about it. If you Google "path is too deep" you'll come up with some hits and maybe that will clarify it a bit.

Thanks for your reply IslandCustom. I actually googled "Windows XP Path Limitations" and different variations of that but not "Path is too deep". Let me see if I can get some hits... Thanks for the idea. Be back in a few...

Check to see if the path variable is simply too long. Right Click on MY Computer, and select properties. Click on the Advanced tab, and then environment variables. Look under system variables, PATH. That cannot be more than 256 characters long or it will create problems. If it is it needs to be shortened.
