I must admit, i am new to Access and I have come along well in the past week teaching myself how to use it. BUT, i must've done something >:-<, because now when i click on my form a box pops up that says "Enter Parameter Value". How on earth do i get rid of this? Thanks.

Melissa,
My guess is that your form is based upon a query, and in the criteria line of the query, it says [Enter Parameter Value]. This is a technique that people use when they want to run a query multiple times, looking for different values.

Just open the form in design view, right click on the little square box at the junction of the horizontal and vertical rulers, and choose "Properties". Go to the data tab, and look at the "Record Source". That will tell you where the data for your form is coming from.

There are a couple of other things that might also cause your problem, so let us know if this isn't the solution.

Try entering the design view the query it's based on. On the toolbar, select query and then parameters and delete a few rows. Then try running it again.

no... the form is based on a table. The Record Source is correct....... but maybe this will help. If i click cancel on the parameter value box, the subform in my form is blank. If i type any random value in the box, the subform appears. By the end of today, i will have no hair left.

Also.... it is asking for the parameter value of a specific field.... so i must've changed something in the properties of that specific field??? ........ i dont know..... i appreciate your time though :)

I would try a couple of things here. First... try deleting the text box that refers to the field and then adding it again. If that doesn't work... try going to the form properties and changing "allow filters" to no. Finally... try creating a new form from the table with just that field on it. This will help you to figure out if it's on the form or the table. Then get back to us.

thanks for your reply chris. Its greatly appreciated.

I tired deleting the text box and adding it again. the parameter box still appeared. Then i put the allow filters to "no". the box STILL appeared. then i made a new form with just that field on it, and the text box did not appear on that form. Soooooooo..... any other suggestions ??

You could keep trying things, or you could just copy and paste all the important parts of the form into a new form and just recreate it :). Probably wouldn't take that long.

Melissa-
I would try opening the from in design view and then look through a couple of things. One, look through the VB code for any refences to a parameter. Also, look through the subforms code and design for the same.
Are there any queries at all in the db? If so, try looking through them. I have created db where a query is used to populate the form based on a table.
Good Luck

Paladyr i took your advice and made a new form. thanks!!! it worked! thank you all for your great advice. I learned alot just from this forum.
