I have a computer here - not mine - that is updating NAV every 5 minutes. The command line popup is driving the user nuts.
Norton Systemworks 2004, Windows 2000 SP4
Windows Task Scheduler for NDetect.exe keeps resetting to 5 minutes regardless of a manually entered setting of 1 or 2 hourly.
The program is set up to automatic update but this is beyond belief difficult for the user to live with. The cmd window takes a lot of screen real estate as the user has fairly large screen resolution by choice and it is popping up every five minutes while he is trying to work.
At the moment I'm looking at removing automatic updates and setting up a reminder outside Nortons to do a Live Update or using Task Scheduler to run Live Update every 4 hours. But the Live Update screen popping up every 4 hours is going to be equally irritating. I'd prefer it to be automatic and so would he. He only needs the virus definition updates
There is no need for this user to update all the time. He does not engage in risky internet use and is not running a multinational corporation from his computer.
Can anyone give me a hint of what could be done.
