I'm running Norton AV 2003 on a Windows XP machine with the latest upgrades. I use power management so that the computer will wake up from hibernation to run tasks....this works for the weekly full virus checking. However, when the task is complete a screen comes up saying the task is complete and to press the Finish button. This stops the computer from going back to sleep...or any of the powermanagement features for that matter..the monitor won't even go dark...

Any ideas would be appreciated...

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks.

Double-click Add Scheduled task.

Click the Browse Button.

Double-click Program Files, and then double-click Norton AntiVirus. In the NAV folder, double-click Navw32.exe.

Select when you want to run the scan by checking a selection under "Perform this task," and then click Next.

Select the time and day that you want the scan to run, and then click Next.

For Windows NT/2000 or XP enter the administrators logon and password if you see the screen that reads "Enter the name and password of a user. The task will run as if it were started by that user," and then click Next.

Check "Open advanced properties for this task when I click Finish."

Press End, press the Space bar once, and then type the following:
/L /noresults

The line should read:

"C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Navw32.exe" /L /noresults

NOTE: The /noresults switch will not run the virus scan minimized. However, it will make it so NAV does not display the final results of the scan and close the program when the scan is finished. If you want to minimize the scan, click the minus sign in the upper right hand corner of the scanning display screen. Also, you can substitute a specific drive or drives in the place of the /L switch if desired. (The /L switch directs Norton AntiVirus to scan all local drives.) For example, to scan just the C drive, in the "Command line parameters" box, type:

C: /noresults

Click Apply, and then click OK.
