Norton AntiVirus failed to scan an attachment in a message

I have been recieving this message from the NAVMSE; Admin Alert: Norton AntiVirus failed to scan an attachment in a message from my Exchange server. No action was taken on the attachment. Attachment Readme.scr was Logged Only for the following reasons:Scan Engine Failure (0x80004005)
The NAVMSE was previously working fine.
I am running NAVMSE version 2.1 and Exchange Server 5.5 on a WinNT Server 4.0.
I have visited the Symantec site that the information there didn't help much.
Any suggestions on how to sort this out?

i am getting this same message. i have a user who received an excel sheet with no virus and then forwarded it on to other people and he is getting this error. how did you solve this problem on your end?
