I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times that I have had problems with Symantec products. So, here's one more problem:
I installed Norton Antivirus 2006 over 2005. It worked o.k. for about a month and then I received a message that my subscription was expired. Obviously not true. I assumed that this was a consequence of remnants from the 2005 subscription. So, I uninstalled everything and deleted all remnants of both 2005 and 2006 (I assumed). I then reinstalled 2006. It worked for a while and then I started getting the expiration message again. I went into the Norton configuration utility and re-installed the product key and this worked.........until I powered down. Once I powered up again, I received the expiration message again. If I go into the product key update utility and again re-enter the product key, the subscription resets and it's o.k.........until I power down again.
My assumption is that there is something in the registry from the 2005 version that is triggering the expiration alert. I've tried contacting Norton through their e-mail support service. But, that's as useful as a windbreaker in a typhoon. Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Bob
