Nortel VoIP VPN with PIX

Hello All

I'm currently setting up a BCM 400 with local and remote IP Phones. all local ip phones use the local network to connect to they BCM which resides on the same network. All remote users connect to the main office using a hardware VPN from their home routers (Linksys Business series routers) to the main office (Cisco Pix running os 6.3)

The VPN connects perfectly. I can ping the BCM on the other side. If I use a i2050 softphone I can place calls and I have 2 way communications. Basicly everything works 100%.

Now for the problem:
when I use my I2004 or I2002 phone the phone connects I can dial out but I only get 1 way voice or no voice at all.

I have tried everything I can think of short of upgrade the OS on the PIX to v7. I see no restrictions that would block ports on the PIX or linksys and the soft phone works great so I know UDP is working but I'm sure the softphone uses a different port range.

No different port ranges between set types.

Verify that your remote networks are accessible from each site. Also ensure the gateway on the hardphone is configured properly.

I found the problem it was the Linksys RVL200 for some reason it was blocking the UDP stream coming back in.

Did you change the unit or the settings? And if so, from what to what?

I tried to get in touch with linksys tech support for the RVL200 but they still havint returned my phone call. so I replaced it with a Linksys RV042 and it works great!!
