I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Your entire terminology will be different as it seems whatever Nortel names one thing Avaya names it something else and vice versa.
I guess they just do that to screw with our heads.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Thanks to all. Got my Coffe mug, Finished the Prereqs last week. As for the Nortel vs Avaya Terminology....god help me !!

And even Avaya are not consistent with their own terminology, for example in an IP Line the Gateway is the other system, in IP Routes the Gateway is the Router/switch. So good luck :)

Sit back and enjoy = much of the stuff covered, you'll know the basis of and just need to learn "how".

There will probably be a number of newbies on the course who will need the concepts of telecoms explaining...

With these courses, you get out of them what you put in - when you do the lab examples - try and take them 1 step further, try and fit them to sites that you have worked on (albeit different systems). Also, if you don't understand ask questions - you probably won't be the only one with that quetsion. You (or your boss) are paying for the course, so even the most basic questions are worth asking.

IP Office isn't bad to learn. When it comes to the advanced aps (CCC, IMS) you'll have fun banging your head against the wall the first time unless you have somebody showing you what to do.
IP Office loads aps on Severs unlike BCM/Norstar, so if you are coming from that arena you may have less experience with servers/domain accounts. It is helpfull to be savvy with servers.
I always like to mess around with a unit as much as i can before i go to training, then i get the chance to ask all or some of the true questions that i may need to know.
Normally you just go to training, get out on your first install and say "Oh %#@#" how do i do that!!!!
Remember to upgrade DS30 modules to 3_2_99 loader first per docs, i almost missed that one the first time.

Here is question you will want to make sure you get answered. When an employee leaves, how do you change the mailbox to the new employee? If you just change the name in Manager, it overwrites the files in Voicemial PRO but sometimes leave old greetings behind. The long way is to go into Voicemail PRO and delte the 3 files in Accounts/Greetings/Names. Any other takers...
