how do i setup the Nortel t7316E to not ring for all calls and only receive direct calls?

There are many settings that can make a phone ring: line assignments, hunt groups, answer buttons, call forwarding, delayed ring transfer and more… It would be easier if you know what kind of calls you want to stop ringing at your phone.

I'm not sure of what you mean by "direct calls". Are you referring to internal calls, calls coming in on a target line or something else?

Also, you didn't mention the Norstar system and software you have. It may help to point you in the right direction.

all the lines in the hunt are hitting my line. i also get internal calls to open the front door.

Choose words correctly and when asked for system type and software then best to answer the question since different programming.

"all the lines in the hunt are hitting my line"

Do you mean all the incoming roll over lines are ringing at your extension?.
Hunt Group is programming
Line is Line 1, 2 , 3 etc.

Are you the office admin who handles the phone system or an employee who wants to program there own phone?

Lines are programmed in Line Assignment/LineAcess
Door Phones can be Answer DN, HG's or Page Zone.

all the incoming roll over lines are ringing at my extension. also when someone rings the door bell to the front of the office it rings as well at my phone.
i can edit from the admin phone if necessary. i am a new employee. the phone i have is not the admin phone. the former employee at my desk had a different position and needed the phone.

Press the feature button and dial 85, That should do it.
To turn it off press feature #85.

curlycord is right. The Do Not Disturb feature prevents all calls from ringing, including internal calls and transferred calls. It might not be what you want.

If you have no experience in Norstar programming, the first thing you should do is get a copy of the Installer Guide for your system. A PDF copy can be easily found online. Go straight to the Programming chapter and read on. If you're not sure of what you would have to do, be sure to follow curlycord's advice: ask the system manager or call in someone that can train you to make such changes.

To stop the incoming lines from ringing your phone, you need to log into programming. The settings are under Terminals & Sets > [Your Set] > Line Access > Line Assignment. Once you get there, press the SCAN softkey to go the first line that is assigned to your phone. If the line is set to "Appear & Ring", you want to change it to "Appear Only". If the line is set to "Ring Only", you want to change it to "Unassigned". If the line is already set to "Appear Only", you don't want to change it. Press the SCAN softkey again to move on to the next line assigned to your phone. These changes ensure that the buttons on your phone don't change.

As for the doorphone, there are many possibilities. It depends on whether the doorphone is a Norstar doorphone or a third-party doorphone. It also depends on how the doorphone is configured. Can you give us some clues? For example, is there an indicator flashing on your phone when it rings? If so, what is the button next to this indicator?
