Nortel supported third-party anti-virus software?

In the process of reading some manuals on Callpilot, I saw a section where Nortel encouraged third-party anti-virus software for security reasons. The rest of the reading never specified what software was allowed and the Nortel web site is not forthcoming with any info. Someone must have already been down this road so please help if possible?
