Nortel SL-100

I know it's not a Norstar but I have to start somewhere. The tape drive on our sl-100(msl 10) thinks it is demoounting a tape. I can't busy, test, demount or mount a tape. It gives me an error saying "wait until tape is finished demounting". I've replaced the I/O controller and tape controller. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
