Is there a way to turn off the keypad tones? I have a Nortel T7316e. I hate hearing that beep sound.

Thanks,

Bob

Not on the Norstar or BCM TDM/IP sets.....If you get an analog phone and hook it up, you can get rid of the Nortel keyclicks.

You can only change it on a CS1000 with the IP sets.

Hmmm. Some other phones in our office don't make the beeps when the keys are pressed. I thought maybe it was a setting I could change.

As far as I know, all versions of Norstar from DR1 to the latest MICS and digital M7xxx and T7xxx sets have the keyclick. You can minimize the noise by pressing the volume down on the speaker phone if you are dialing via speaker phone.

Which phone models are the ones without key clicks, can you send those along? That will help me gauge what is going on.

Now I assume you are refeering to the keyclick single "blip" sounding noise and not DTMF tones, correct?

try feature #86. sometimes bgm being turned on causes tones

WORK SMART NOT HARD

@stsguy - I did that and still hear the beeps.

@GordonKapesMz4 - The phones that aren't making the beeps are M7310 model. The beep I'm referring to is say the handset is on the cradle...I press Feature XX...when I press any keys after Feature, it makes a short beep sound.

Oh, lets see here, this condition normally happens if the background music Feature 86 is active, so the Feature#86 should cure it.....although another condition may exist....that involves Feature*82 which is dial pad mode.

There are 3 choices for dial pad mode: Be sure your dialpad is set to Standard mode. I have a feeling it might be set on predial. Let me know your results!

Dialing Modes

FEATURE * 82
Choose one of the three methods of dialing.

Press FEATURE * 82

Press # to select the mode

Press HOLD to store the mode.
Standard Dial: Select a line, then dial the number. (Standard Dial is always available, even when another dialing mode is selected.)

Automatic Dial: Dial the number without choosing a line button first. Your prime line is automatically selected for the call.

Pre-Dial: Dial the number, then press a line button to place the call. Edit the number by pressing VOLUME BAR before placing the call.

If none of the above works, it may be a "newer condition" of the Norstar T series sets.....that is just something standard.

I checked both. Background Music was set to OFF and dial mode was set to Standard. Still getting the beeps.

If this is a T7316E, it may be a condition of the phone.... :(

I have a system at home, I'll try this out on my system at home....here at the office we have Cisco....not my favorite.

Make sure you do not have the "background music" option "On" Use Feature #86 to turn this feature off.

@MikeR101 - When I press Feature #86 it tells me Background Music is OFF. But I still get the beeps when I press my dialpad.
