Hi,

Newbie to the forum here so apologies if this is a common question I've not found the answer to.

I've been given a Nortel phone system to look after without any real training, I got to shadow a bloke for a month before he left. I now have two DNs that don't always ring on external or internal calls, when they don't ring they ring for the caller & then divert to voicemail.

I've compared the setup on the TN to working phones & nothing leaps out at me, where do I start?

Thanks in advance,

What type of phone? Analog, digital or IP?????????

Sorry I forgot to say, IP phones. Almost all the ones we have are 1120s or 2002P2s.

This is the first faulty phone...

x2799 is our callpilot voicemail divert.

Sorry for the lack of info I got about two hours training on this stuff three months ago.

Tell them if they're going to forward their phone to voicemail, then remember to take it off foward. Go to the phone and remove the forwarding or tell them to undo their forwarding or remove that key. Also tell them, they don't need to manual forward their phone to voicemail, it will do it automatically after x ring cycle.

We've got hundreds of phones setup like that & it works fine though.

I can't see any difference on these to any of the phones that work fine. It doesn't appear to be that the calls divert too soon, just that the handset doesn't ring before the divert happens.

ie -
1) you ring the number
2) caller hears the phone ringing for the normal number of times - however the handset doesn't always ring
3) you get to voicemail

If the handset rings or not, it takes the same number of rings to get to voicemail, which suggests to me the divert is happening after the correct number of rings. Is that correct with how these systems work?

Try doing a trace of the call when it is "ringing" before the divert.

- login in
- go to ld 80 to trace calls

.trac 100 0 3 13
You need to hit enter when the call is in progress

.trac 100 0 2 15

Pro refers to my company, not my status

have you checked that there no difference between the firmware on the working & none working?

Remember if it doesn't work hit it harder
