Nortel Option 81C - CSL/ESDI card

I have a Nortel Option 81C PBX. I am going to be setting up 10 PRI T1s. I am also setting up 5(five) primary DChannels and 5(five) secondary Dchannels. Is cabling from the DCH PORT on the DUAL/PRI T1 cards required when using an ESDI card for configuring DCH's? If so, do I just go by the DIP setting on the DUAL/PRI T1 cards when configuring the DCH's? Also, how many DCH's can an ESDI card support? Thank you in advance.

Yes you will need to set the correct dip switch's for your config (NTP's)
I would recommend getting a 4 port MSDL board and not use up your SDI paddle board.

reason when configuring your Dual/PRI you will need to give it a DNUM (device number) from 0-15 these numbers are also used bye tty device's

0 system monitor
4 & 5 core
etc.

you can get 4 DCH's off 1 MSDL and only use 1 DNUM
verse giving the DTI/PRI a DNUM and only getting 2 DCH's

it's a nice space saver depending on how big you will be growing. The MSDL card can sit right next to a NET card.

I will be using an ESDI card already being used in the PBX. Is cabling required in order to program DCH's on the dual/PRI cards? I do NOT have any spare MSDL cards to put into the PBX. Couldn't I just use the ESDI card for programming the DCH's? I will be programming 10 DCH's (5 PRIMARY) & (5 SECONDARY).
