You should check the cabling on those phones. Isn't that excessive button pressing....or something like that. Usually a bad phone, bad cabling, or someone had a 3903, saw a 3904 in an empty office and swapped thier phones.

Janaya,

That is a very good possibility. These phones are in an area where the users would have no regard for something like that. Many users are actually set up with 2616s because the department manager rejected the expense of getting 3903s. I bet they have stolen 3903s to replace the "hideous" beige phones. I will look into this when I get back into the office....

if you can dial into the system, just do an .idu from ld 32 on each of the above TN's and it will tell you what type of phone is connected. It probably doesn't match what is programmed. Or the cabling/phone is bad.

Hope this helps.

Since the errors are frequent and from many different tns on the same card i'd be suspicious of the card. Unless all the tns are possibly connected to the same cable and it is being affected by emi or water damage.
The other possibility is a failing link between cabinets, particularly if the only card in the cabinet is in slot 21

Are all the errors for cards in the 3rd cabinet, cards 21 through to 30, if they are I would suspect a Fibre problem, either the Fibre Receiver Card, the Fibre Daughter Board, or the Fibre itself.

I indeed did find some people stole some 3904 phones and connected them to the port set up for a 3903 like janaya was saying. So what I did was disable them and so far the errors have stopped. I am going to run like this until the users complain about the phones not working and address it then. But in the meantime, no more errors have been creeping up!

This report below might help you. Nortel Newsflash Number: 13/2000 refers.

Problem Description
Too many invalid input messages are sent from digital sets on the second cabinet only of Opt11C. The problem may exhibit itself in the following manner: -

1. Bug4216 printed on the TTY. This message means that there are too many invalid input messages.
2. Unusual activity on digital sets such as keys lamps lighting for no reason, ring cadences altered, crackles on speech & call drops.
3. SSD monitor in OVL 77 displaying invalid FFFF messages.
4. ERR080 - key input from SW unequipped add on module.

Fix:
BVW has identified the root cause of the problem. The fix involves changing a component on the NTDK20DA Opt11C CPU card; the new Release of the card is Rel 9.
Current shipments from Galway do not exhibit the problem; all cards returned for repair will be upgraded.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I found some phones that were stolen and replaced with the wrong model. I have replaced all of them with the correct one, and so far no errors. Thanks for all the help guys!
