Before I start, I would like to thank everyone, I can't tell you how many times these forums have helped me out.
My problem now is with a Nortel Opt11c Remote Fiber shelf. The install started with fiber that was just under a mile, so the plan was to use a NTDK80BA Fiber receiver card and matching daughter board on the main shelf SCC. Turns out the short fiber run is crack, so the alternative fiber path is around 6 miles, they see each other but just sending a error code. The shelf work fine, back to back and over the local fiber, that runs about 300ft. So the long run fiber is the problem. So far I was able to get our data network up over the longer fiber, with Cisco 3750, and tried using Fiber Media Converters to send the Remote Shelf over a vLan, so far it's hasn't been going well. I don't think that the Cards are talking TCP/IP so the Converters don't know what to do. There is a plan to upgrade the system to CS1000E so I know remote IP will work over the vLan, but the upgrade isn't going to happen for a few months. Is there any solution that would bring these remote shelf up?
Right now we're Tried 100/1000MB converters, and hooking the fiber right to a fiber port on the 3750, and the switch isn't even seeing it. I can get the 2 Switches talking over the copper we have between buildings if there is a way to get the Nortel up over the fiber.
Right now all we have between sites is 2 pair copper and 1 pair SM fiber.
Thanks again.
