Hello everyone, We have a Norstar Plus Compact ICS system with 8 Analog lines and 13 User extension phones. We need to move it to another room. I'm the IT Guy and i have never shut this system down before. We couldn't find the Guy that did the installation years ago. My Question is that is there any step-by-step process of shutting down the system or i can just unplug it and plug it back on when get to its new location? Ever since i joined the company, the system has been running on a UPS and never went down in a day! I know that some Telephone Systems do lose their configurations if one do not go through the proper shutdown process. Please, help me!

Thanks

Just pull the plug and move it. All programming should stay intact.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

phoneguy is right. The shutdown process is "yank the cord out of the wall". The programming is held on flash ROM that won't be affected by a loss of power. It will come back up ok.

Yes just unplug. The other issue that you may have is setting up the correct phone with the right extension number (DN).
Press feature * 0 on each phone press the icm key to verify the extension and port number so when you reinstall all should be okay.

If set relocation is set to yes, no extension issues are relevant.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Set relocation can be dangerous if not properly used. Be prepared to reprogram sets if they should default programming.

If you move two or less sets at one time, there is no problem with set relocate. The set has a memory chip called an ssi or ssd. the Norstar reads this chip for set info, it only gets confused if it tries to read more than two sets at a time.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Precisely. Thereby, if he moves the KSU without first determining set port assignments, with set reloc on...

Thanks a lot Guys!
We've relocated the system and it came up back online as you all have indicated. However, the time has changed! The Date is correct but the time is showing a wrong time on all the phones!
Please, how do i reset the time ?

Thanks for your help!

Happy New Year to you all!
