I have recently installed a nortel modular system w/T1 trunk card and 2 ASM's which are used to connect to the IVR system via 16 single line ports. I now realize the ASM.s won't pass caller ID to the IVR, but I am having disconnect issues with the IVR when calls are received......help!

Thats because there is no disconnect super from the ASM

Does this mean it is not available, or that it just has not been programmed?

Disconnect Supervision is on the Trunks/lines and not the station ports such as ATA/ASM.

Is it outside callers or internal callers calling in that wont disconnect after they hangup from the IVR?
What IVR system is it?

You will have to find VMI's, they can be programmed for disconnect. You'll need 8 of them. You need a digital station module to run them.

So far it is just outside callers calling in that it won't disconnect their call....and the system is a Linux based Dell server running a version of asterix. I hope this helps.

VMI is short for Voicemail Interface, they were used to connect the Norstar to 3rd party voicemails. If you Google Norstar VMI you will find sites that have them. Nortel doesn't make them anymore

2 ports per VMI so you would need 16 digital ports and 8 VMI units.

I am not aware that they need a station module, thought they worked off the KSU too?.

F9*9 or F9*3 on older systems to program.

Here is a guide on a similiar type setup:
