I installed a new MICS with 7.1 to replace a fried one. I set up most of the programming and then the customer made a test call. The call rang once then hung up. Same thing on line two. I replaced the CI trunk card with a DS trunk card to test and it did the same thing. The trunks are from Comcast. The only think different from the old system wiring is I installed some 130 volt line protectors on the CO's. Also when the CO's ring fine when the system is off. Any ideas? I have seen this before but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

Thanks,
Mike

You've got a ring/ground trip condition. Your protectors are bad or improperly grounded.

Then why wouldn't it do it when the mics is unpluged from electrical outlet. The same protectors are still in place and connected to cordless plus the mics.

By turning off the MICS you're changing the load on the lines.

Check your ring voltage should be 90VAC (with and without the MICS on), you might be over the limit of the protectors.

Well just to let you know I figured out the problem. They had a NT8B79FA door phone. It was still working but must have got just a little to much voltage from the lighting strike that hit a tree 30 feet away from it. The door phone was causing the half ring, answer and then disconnect. It wasn't in the programming ether. I set it up as a door phone and got a disconnect. Then I moved it to a different wire and a different port and it still did it. Once it was disconnected the problem was gone. I'm not sure but I guess an M or T series could cause the same problem. Just a heads up.

Thanks,
Mike

The door phone must of had the lines assigned to it maybe? Thanks for the update

Nope! No lines assigned on ether port I connected it to. As a phone or as a door phone.
