Nortel MICS 4.1 Access Denied 1

When trying to access debug, system reset, config, admin, or install I get "access denied" displayed. The Norstar system worked fine until a phone was knocked off the desk and I believe some of the keys were pressed by mistake. Now I cannot get a dial tone when selecting any line. If I select a line and then press "Intercom" I get a dial tone but, as soon as I try to dial a number I get a fast busy. Desperately need help from anyone.
 
You need a 2 line display (one with 3 softkeys under the display) to do any programming.

Might be some info you not giving us though, other phones have issues to or just the one you dropped.

Thank you for getting back so quickly. I did the suggestion but, the results are the same. Anything else I can try?
 
The problem happens on all the phones. I believe the 4 phones I have are 7308's. I have one 7310 but the feature key does not seem to function. I get the power up sequence with the time displayed on the 7310.
 
The 7310 is the only one you'll be able to program on. 7208.... will be "Access Denied".

The M7310 is the one I spoke of with the 3 soft keys and the one you dropped so replace it with the same and your good to go.

On the older Norstar systems that we had in the UK such as the 6+16 compact versions, the M7208 phones could be used to access the system at both CONFIG and ADMIN level.

I seem to recall that access to CONFIG was denied on the M7208 for later software releases when the larger M7310 and M7324 phones became available. However, I'm not sure if it was still possible to use the M7208 at ADMIN level only?.

Only on CICS, MICS & BCM do you have to have a M7310, M7324 or T7316 to program...
 
If the "Feature" key is not working on my 7310, what are my choices? Has anyone repaired a phone before? I was going to open it up and see what I can see. I am hoping that the key is only stuck with dirt or something else.

You could try snapping the button off outwards then spray around it lightly with special electronics spray.

We send sets in for repair as its not worth the effort and most are non-serviceable without the right equipment.

Just but another one and replace it....they are cheap these days.

I got my 7310 "Feature" button to work. When I run "STARTUP", I get a message displayed "STARTUP DENIED". Any suggestions?
 
Found out I had to disconnect and reconnect the power and then within 15 min try to "restart". That worked, I am now able to go thru the installation. Thanks for your help! I am wish to keep this thread open until I finish the install just in case i need further assistance.
 
Forgot to note there was a stuck key on the 7310. Freed one of the three keys right under the LCD display. Then the Feature key responded.
 
Finished going through the "Install" but I seem to not have a dial tone on any phone. I only have one telephone line coming into the system. Any external calls go straight to service-provided voicemail. No inbound calls ring on handsets. I am a rookie at programming the Nortel system but have the previous installer notes before I ran "Startup". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
You need to go into Sets/LineAcesss and assign the line to the set.
Choice are Appear Only, Ring Only, Appear and Ring

And the line # is 001 given your jumper is on the Blue white pair.
