Nortel Meridian M8x24 DS lost programming, kind of...

To get straight to the point, a phone system that I "support" has rebooted due to a power outage/failed UPS and now phone DN's are all mixed up.
I did not do the install so I can't tell you how it was programmed.
What I can tell you is that this system has an expansion module (m0x16) and it looks like the DN's on this module have all moved down.
For example, DN 272 is now 248 and DN 274 (voice mail extension) is now 250, 278 is now 254, etc...
For some reason, when the system rebooted it relocated all the extensions.
Is this because whoever did the install of the expansion module didn't do it right?
All my voicemail users can still use it since the system gracefully changed the 274 to 250 in everyone's phone programming by itself!
Any suggestions? The system seems to work just not everyone has the proper DN's anymore.

There is a setting called "Set relocate"
If it is ON then people can move sets and the DN goes with the set.

So obviously (if knowing that detail) a system that defaulted will but sets back on the original ports, 221 port 101, 222 port 202 and so on.

I am 99% sure that this option was not ON before and it still isn't.
When you add an expansion module, like the m0x16, do you have the choice to make the new ports/DN's further down?
I mean, my first DN is 221, + 23 = last system DN is 244. So the addition of a new module would be DN 245 to DN 260, right? Or can I is it possible the person who installed it made it start at say, DN 269 + 15 ???
I'm just trying to understand why was it installed like this.

Yes you can go to "Starting DN" and change it.

If I change the starting DN of the expansion module, will the programming change on all the phones?
My voicemail was on DN 274 and automatically changed to DN 250 and all the phones have automatically updated themselves to reflect this.
So if I change it back, will the same happen again?
Maybe I should leave it as is, and simply inform the users of their "new" DN's... hmmm
Also, where do I do this change? Does it affect only the expansion sets or will it affect my 221 to 244?

Starting DN" refers to just that.

So if I start at 200 then it the KSU will assign port 101 as X200

Module will just follow suite according to versions and the Installers Guide.

What you need to do instead of pissing off a client is to program as was.
So either start move jumpers to the right port and use the "Change DN" feature.

On the sets :
Feature * 0, Intercom then press view to see the port.

It that simple but will take you awhile.

What was the date after the power outage?. If your system defaulted to factory settings after the reboot, then it will happen again. It's best to do a controlled reboot to confirm this. If I recall correctly, A date of the 1st Jan or April would mean that the system had lost all its settings.

Date and time was good.
And it took the users one week to inform us that they had phone problems!
All programming looks intact except for the part that some DN's (8 from the expansion module) have changed including the voicemail # that was programmed as dn 274 on everyones call forward no answer or occupied that changed itself to 250... so odd.
It's as if the expansion module when installed didn't follow suit for next available DN and decided to go to dn 269 instead of 245 which it is right now...

Mean read the manual of the version software you have and look at the wiring/numbering chart to see the defaults.
