Using nortel manager 3.5 I can back up an dr5 8x24 using the scheduler on my laptop with windows 98 but my new laptop using windows 2000 will not do the back up using the same program. what I'm I doing wrong?

Taking a guess. Did you check what com port your new computer is using. Hope that helps.

I can back up 0x32s ok with my new laptop using windows 2000. that is with direct connect and remote acess. I can connect to an 8x24 but can't back it up with the schedular.

What error does Schedular give?
Not so sure 2000 supports 3.5, however NRU 10.0 does not support 8X24 lol.

I use an old PC with 3.5 for 8X24 programming/backups and a newer one with NRU 10.0 for all the rest, also I have 2 laptops (1 old,1 new) while on the road.

The error msg number is 105

Here is what the book says for 105

-105 No response timeout. RAD did not answer.
Common problems:
- If Remote Set RAD or FastRAD, check if power supply is connected.
- RAD TCM not connected.
- RAD Port is disabled, enable port via F**CONFIG or move TCM to enabled port.
Remote connection problems:
- Modem not responding to command. Incorrect modem init string.
- RAD not on Auto-answer. Try Operator assisted connection (Feature 9*0).
- RAD answered but is not responding.
- I-RAD answered on Compact ICS system. Use Remote Tools.
- DR2, DR3 and DR4 systems may not respond to Norstar Manager, try Remote Tools
- MICS2.0 systems require remote tools.
- Modem answering is not a RAD.
Direct connection problems:
- RAD not connected to Serial cable or wrong COM port specified.
- If Remote Set RAD or FastRAD, the RAD Local Baud Rate must match the direct connect rate of 9600bd.
- If Remote Set RAD, the RAD may have to reboot for up to a minute after Remote Set session.
- Only FastRAD can connect using 19200bd directly. The FastRAD default local baud rate is 9600, but can be set to 19200.
