Hi - I purchased a used system. There is lagtime during a call which disallows us to punch in numbers in response to cues quickly. This almost seems like the pause is programmed in. Can I program this out? I am not finding it as an option in the programming sequence - under preferences or capabilities...tips?

It'd help if we had more info. What software version is your CICS? Do you have a voice mail system? What model?

And most importantly, specifically, what is the call senario when you get the lag?

Who is punching the numbers, the incoming caller in your auto attendant, or are you calling out from your phone system, and the lag is in the response of the equipment you're calling into?

This is an old system, DR5, I believe. There is no software and no voice mail. Model 7310, Meridian.

When I first had the system installed - professionally, there was not this problem.

I have programmed all of the set(5) to hands free mute - but other than that, am not aware of anything else I have done that might have changed the conditions.

The problem occurs after punching an outgoing call. The connection takes several seconds, then proceeds normally. But, when prompted to punch a number in - such as ID or selection for a service, it does not get recognized as having been done. So, the receiving system asks for it again...

So - I can't really enter automated responses. Eventually some receiving programs recognize my entry...if I keep trying. Others hang up.

I appreciate ANY help you can provide as I am baffled.

THANKS to you!!

I would start by taking a butt set (or an analog phone) directly to the demarc (where your phone lines come in and connect to your system), and place an outbound call to one of the numbers you're having trouble with. If you have the same trouble with an analog phone, call your service provider. The trouble's on the lines, not your system.

CHECK YOU TRUNK SETTINGS. DEFAULT SETTING ON OLD SYSTEMS IS "PULSE" CHANGE TO "TONE" TO HAVE dtmf.

The pulse/tone issue is the answer - when I change to tone on the line by using the # key, I can have instant access. However, I can't seem to get into the trunk settings.

How do I get in to change the trunk settings?

Thanks for the advice and your patience with this single person office...

feature **config, password, show (top right button under the display), show, enter line #, next until you see trunk settings, show, next (button under show) until you see the option for pulse/tone. Change.
