MICS 2.0 Maintenance Release WI 5.7 ITAS SRN-009 April 1, 1998
On September 29, 1997, Norstar enhanced its product portfolio with the introduction of MICS 2.0. MICS 2.0 software is compatible with the 0X32 KSU and its key main feature is the support of BRI ISDN. MICS 2.0 was introduced with software version 4.5.
In November 28, 1997, there was an upissue to the MICS 2.0 software stream. This new software was MICS 2.0, software version 5.1.
MICS 2.0, software version 5.1, offered the following performance enhancements.
Upgrade from MICS 1.0 to MICS 2.0
With software version 4.5, it was necessary to perform an intermediary step when upgrading from MICS 1.0 to MICS 2.0. This intermediary step was to upgrade to MICS 1.1, ie. MICS 1.0 to MICS 1.1 to MICS 2.0.
With software version 5.1, this intermediary step is no longer required. A technician will be able to go directly from MICS 1.0 to MICS 2.0.
CLID Set Prompt
With software version 4.5, the prompt for programming the set that would have automatic call info with CLID, was missing. This prompt has been corrected in software version 5.1.
A new release of MICS 2.0 was made available March 17, 1998. The new MICS 2.0 software was software version 5.5.
MICS 2.0, software version 5.5, contains the 5.1 performance enhancements as well as the following additional performance enhancements.
Volume Reset to Default
Also see ITAS Tip 166 Norstar Set Volume
Software version 5.5 ensures that the Norstar telephone handset can retain the volume selected by the volume bar after disconnecting from a call.
Service Mode Programming
Software version 5.5 ensures that Norstar can change the Ringing Group for central office lines 49 and above.
T1 E&M Trunks
Software version 5.5 corrects a situation where an incorrect message was being sent on a T1 line upon disconnect. Although not very frequent, this incorrect message could cause a system reset.
In our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction, MICS 2.0 WI 5.7 will be in production April 14, 1998 to address the following performance enhancements. MICS 2.0 WI 5.7 contains all previous performance enhancements.
CLID lost after power cycle
This was a rare condition that occurred after a specific sequence of steps was performed in ADMIN programming and then removing the power from the KSU.
Wireless external page problems
This was a condition that occurred under certain call scenarios where the conversation of an external caller and the internal portable user, was heard over the external paging speakers.
System reset after initiating a Base Station re-eval (Canadian XC)
Robustness has been added to the code to prevent the system from getting tied up in an endless loop when performing a re-eval causing the KSU to reset.
Loss of sidetone after wireless handoffs (US XC)
This was a low occurrence condition where the C3050 user thought they were dropped from a call after a base station hand off due to the loss of sidetone. In fact, the user was still connected and able to continue with the conversation.
"Link time" prompt missing
The "Link" prompt has been added to the software as a system wide feature for all lines and trunks.
System reset when using ACD Silent Monitor (US MICS 2.0)
This was a very low occurrence condition in which the KSU would reset when the Silent Monitor option within the Norstar ACD was used.
Muted speech path on C3050 portables (Canadian XC)
This was a condition where the speech path between the portable user and the caller was dropped not allowing the conversation to continue.
