Hi, any suggestions are welcomed! We have issues here and there with users creating loops and storms on the network. Cisco combats this type of problem by automatically shutting down a port detected to have certain faults with their IOS "errDisable" feature. Does anyone know if Nortel ERS 5520 switch software contains any such feature? Or perhaps a set of configurations that can lead to the same result?

Thanks.

Have you tried to enable spanning-tree bpdu filtering.
i think this will cover it.

best regards.

to prevent loops you have the following options:
enable stp with faststart on access ports
enable BPDU filtering on access ports
SLPP on the core (per vlan basis)
