Well finally got the correct doorphone for my 3x8 KSU hoooked it up and guess what, only partially works.
I believe i have followed the instructions but still having problems with the doorphone ringing the lines.
My DP is DN 27, i have it set to ring 5 times, and page zone 3, prime line is I/C for DN27 no ringing etc.
I can page or intercom from my telephones to the Doorphone, but when i push the button on the doorphone, no phones ring and no chimes anywhere.
i have set 2 of my phones to page accept and page zone 3 but no luck.

Does anyone have a suggestion to get me running?

Thanks

id you remove all line appearances, assign i/c prime, remove pool lines ,enable fullhansfree, disable auto handsfree, enable paging, Can you see that it is there ,F9*4
and thats the right dn,If so remove it and reprogam and call door phone and then call from the door phone, Then go back and make your change on your door phone..

your input seems somewhat scattered, i believe i have followed what you have suggested, however no change, i can intercom to the doorphone by dialing DN 27 but if i hit the button on the doorphone nothing happens on the phones, so any more insight would be great.

thanks

Justatecs recommendations were accurate and correct. The problem may be that you do not understand phone system terminology

I will repeat what he said in a previous post: Nortel doorphones do not ring lines. Have you followed the instructions that came with the doorphone? If you have followed Justatecs recommendations, or set it up per the included documentation and it still does not work, then a call to a vendor is in order to determine if it is your programming or the device itself that is the problem.

ok
let me try to explain
Justatec explaination seemed broken up, no continuity.
but here is my doorphone programming
F900
DN 27
Volume High
Call DN 24
Rings 5
Page Zone 3
Chime Type 4
Opener type none

Now DN 24 is set to be on page zone 3 and setup as per instructions in the doorphone manual
from what i understand, when the doorphone button is pushed
DN 24 should ring up to 5 times and if not picked up on the 5th ring, i should hear the paging chimes over all the DN within page zone 3.
Currently i hear nothing from any of the DN's but if i intercom DN 27 from any DN in the system i can converse with the doorphone speaker.

Please let me know if this seems to be the right direction and thanks again everyone here for your willingness to help out.

I should also note i have an ATA2 on DN 26 using a Cordless phone, dont know if this affects anything

It all looks good.
confirm the correct programming for DN27 per the DoorPhone install document
-If good, put door phone on another port for testing.
-If same result: call vendor or just assume you have a faulty DoorPhone

will do, just to confirm and rule this out, i used CAT5e cable for that run, so would that wiring affect its ability to page the phones?

well well,
as i sit here at my PC my doorphone has decided to call the DN it is assigned to and then run the page tones, looked at the front door and guess what, no one was there.
I pressed the button and nothing happened.
Well now i know the doorphone works, but any ideas as to why it would activate on its own, or why it wont work when i push the button, hrmmm ghosts perhaps?

From what I've read on the above posts the following steps have not been discussed:

Call DN must be a VACANT DN - no device attached. Then on phones where ringing is desired, program an ANS DN for the VACANT DN. Label the Vacant DN with a name such as Door. TEST.

The vacant DN is being used as a phantom.

just to be clear on that Arr, if i have a 3x8 KSU
i currently have 7 phones and 1 doorphone, are you saying to make the doorphone work in need to go to 6 phones 1 doorphone and 1 blank DN?

What i do find strange though as i have mentioned is that last night and ALL night about every 2 hours i heard the doorphone ring DN 24 and then page the sets on Zone 3 but again this occurred without anyone touching the doorphone button.

This is what i really find odd now, its working but not :)

Red Tape.

That is how it is clearly stated in the installation manual. Try it.

Well, i havent seen that in the instructions i got here so i havent tried that.
However, power went off here today and of course came back on,
about 1 hour after power restored the doorphone started calling the DN about 5 times in 10 minutes.
This of course with no one touching the doorphone.
I went to the doorphone to try it myself and lo and behold it worked by pushing the button.
So now the doorphone works, however, still a glitch, it still behaves like it is possessed and rings the DN every once in a while. I took the doorphone off to make sure no shorts and it looked good.
So i guess i am looking to solve this self dialing problem.

Looking forward to the expert help.

thanks

Go read page 13 in the installation guide.

Arr,

Yes i see that, and have read that but i think we are having a misunderstanding, I dont care if it rings several telephones,

I have it set so only DN 24 Rings and then after x rings it pages the chimes.

This part works now, but there is erratic behaviouor on why it is calling the DN on its own this is what i have to understand, what could be causing this to happen, it doesnt seem to be in programming that i can tell.

Anyways if you still think i am reading this wrong i look forward to your reply.

thanks again

Redtape,

It sounds like you may have an issue with your wiring or a defective doorphone.

I would double check your wiring, especially where you may have tacked down the wire, to ensure that nothing is crossed.

If that all looks good, I would take a working phone from the system and place it on the door phone port and disconnect the door phone. If you can do wire up a temporary jack at the location of the door phone, that would be great.

If the phone does not display any erratic behavior, and the wiring looks good, I would start to assume that there is an internal fault with the door phone itself.
