Is there a way to set up a phone on the CS1000 PBX to disconnect or giove a disconnect warning tone after a caller has been on the call for a determinate amount of time?
To use the PBX for this functionality, yes you need a dedicated trunk and route. To force using it for all the calls from this phone, you just HOTline the TN to the route access code.
If it were me, I would not try to limit call duration using the system. What if someone had to call 911 from this phone? Just put a label on the phone that says "All calls are recorded"...that will keep durations to a minimum.
We would already have this phone restricted for 9-1-1. so that is not an issue.
I think dedicating a trunk and route for the courtesy phone is not feasible. I have found a viking product (TR-1) that can set a timer for phones.
Well, that's still gonna limit 911 calls to 3 minutes isn't it
When you call 911 on a real issue, you need to stay on the line with them until the issue has cleared up.
However, there are certainly worse things in the world. If you need to limit the call duration, then I would go with the Viking product too. It's a lot less costly than complicating trunks and routes.
if you have a spare trunk port and a spare analog port.. the cost is zero... use an analog port for dialtone.. then have the courtsy phone hot d the acod of the new route... really pretty simple.
i use one, the cust does not have to dial 9 and the tfd can be 3 minutes... the caller can redial, some do but not very often.. you do get a code every time a caller gets cut off.. so if i get 3 or 4 codes in a row i disable the trunk.. if your going that way let us know and someone can post the rdb and trunk
