Our company just recently, 2.5 weeks ago encountered a problem, we cannot open our faxes they come into the call pilot like they are there but we keep getting error messages, see below:

Cannot open this item or the messagin interface has returned an unkown error. If the problem persists, restart outlook.

We have 8 Nortel personnel looking at this issue and none of them can give us answers, out IT company along with our phone carrier has researched as well and no resolution.

I am asking if any of you have ever encountered this problem. We have tried opening in other programs and forwarding to other personnel these actions do not work.

Please help we are a medical company and have faxes that we need to access or at least determine that they never actually arrived into the system.

Have anyone tried to print the fax directly from the mailbox or open it from within MyCallPilot instead of outlook? If you can't print directly from the mailbox, then those fax item are corrupted or invalid. If this is the case, the next step is to determine if the fax are being corrupted on arrival or were corrupted prior to arrival - test this by sending a simple 1 page fax from internal, then from an external source, also test against a newly created mailbox.

I just sent a fax from our enternal fax machine to the call pilot it shows it tansmitted ok but we have not received the fax in call pilot yet. How would you access mycallpilot ours is in our outlook system? Sorry we are not literate when it comes to IT.

It's possible you don't have MyCallPilot installed at your site; regardless, you should still be able to print the fax item directly from the mailbox. Access the mailbox that has the fax capability and check the auto printing and add a default printing DN for that mailbox. If everything is working correctly, all incoming faxes to that mailbox will print to the fax number define in the default printing DN field. If it works here then the problem lies with the integration to outlook.

To check if you have MyCallPilot or not, open your web browser and enter the IP/host name of the CPMGR server/mycallpilot...i.e. Usually mycallpilot is installed and running on a seperate webserver, but in some cases, people have installed it on the CP server.
