A client bought a used system and wants us to install it- can anyone tell me how to wire out the C6 caller ID box...

Its been 20 years since we did one. I think the first 6 pairs on the 25 pair go in and then back to ksu with one digital extension being hooked up. Is there any programming to do ????????????????????????

A C6 will only work on a 616 DR5. It connects to any station port. You will then have to program the Caller ID settings in the system under "LINES > TELCO SETTINGS". Caller ID will only be displayed automatically on one ringing set. Other phones will see the CLID AFTER they answer the phone.

Yes as in your first post is correct.

As for the rest of the sets that do not get auto caller id then can do F811 (or programmed button) and press the flashing line to see the CLID.

However not required if they are full AA because voice mail will transfer the CLID with the call.

If they are full AA note you must change rings from 0 to 2 in F983 as the CLID is sent between the 1st and 2nd ring.

I have an M8 (same thing as the C6, but for the 8x24) in storage....it cost $380 to buy back in 2002 from Vibes Communications in Brooklyn Park, MN. It was crazy to set up. And get this, I was unemployed at the time, and it was simply to get caller ID on my own home Norstar system. That was a huge amount now that I think about it. Hmmmm trying to remember how I wired it up.

I drew a diagram, let me know if it helps and if I am correct.

I remember that you have to run the lines through a 66 block in order to get each line to display the CLID information. So with the M-8 I had 3 66 blocks. Since the 6x16 has dedicated RJ-11 inputs, you'll only have 2 66 blocks.

In simple terms, the 1st 6 pairs are bridged to the same connecting pairs for the CO Lines via X-Connect wire...

The single pair lead connects to a station DN. Why they didn't use one of the other 19 pairs within the amphenol is beyond me...
