Nortel 3x8

Ok folks, it's time to get into Professor Peabody's way back machine. I have a customer with a Nortel 3x8 (DR1 I think), when they are on a call connected to a device looking for DTMF they can press digits all day long but there is no response at the other end. Do I have the ability to change from short tones to long tones? And will this solve the issue?

By default 3x8 dial out is pulse. Change your lines to tone and problem solved.

Feature 808 will give you tones as long as you hold the button down.

thanks to both, I'll make sure it is set to tones and follow up with 808 if I need to.

I'd be surprised if that box doesn't come back with inactive feature for 808. Pretty good chance the trunks are set to pulse though.

A 3x8 with DR1 will lose it's programming if the power goes out since it's likely a 20 yr old system (the capacitors that hold the memory are shot by this point). Have a few of these out there in my service territory that I get to deal with every now and then when the power blinks.
