I've got a 500 user environment where random PCs/Laptops wont pick-up a DHCP offer when downstraem of the VoIp phoneset. However once you disconnect the network cable from the phone and hook it directly to the PC the DHCP process completes. Next time this occurs I'll soft reboot the phone and see if I get the same results.

Has anyone else had this issue or experienced simialr issues?

I'll post some of the caputre, and log info following this post.

Do you have auto-neg disabled on the phone?

There was a known problem with the i2002/i2004 and 1100 series if the user hard coded the speed duplex of the PC port on the phone the laptop/desktop would have issues if the phone and laptop/desktop weren't rebooted at the same time.

You can solve that problem by using auto-neg on the PC port (on the i2002/i2004 phone) and on the laptop/desktop.

I've never had this problem, on phase II phones. What firmware and phase type phone are you running. The purple barney phones are phase 1. Are you assigning vlan parameters to your ip phones. Is the phone set for full dhcp?

The problem I found was the other way around, because Auto-neg on NIC is not standard across different vendors it's best to set the speed/duplex at the PC, phone and switch level.
