Hi Everyone,

1- Can someone explain me how to add on the same SIP Nortel 1140e device that is currently connected to a CS1000 ver 7.5 another extension (DN).

2- Also, on the same device, how can have the same extension (DN) with more than one key (<2 lines).

---
Q1: SIP 1140e key #1 extension#(DN): 1111 , Key #2 extension#(DN):2222.
---
Q2: SIP 1140e Key #1 extension#(DN): 1111 , Key #2 extension#(DN): 1111

Thank you.

The phone needs to log into the SIP line gateway with each line appearance you want to have on a key. I'm not sure you could have the same DN appear multiple times on the same set (this is not a key system).

As I understand it, the SIPU (user id) needs to be different than any of the DNs on the phone, and you need to turn on AUTHID prompting for autologin to occur, then you assign the multiple log-ins in the MAC-Address specific config file on the provisioning server.

Here is an example from one of my 1140e's running SIP 4.03.09:

#**************user ID
DEF_USERS1 8416513

#**************Registration Parameters
PROMPT_AUTHNAME_ENABLE YES

AUTOLOGIN_AUTHID_KEY01 8416513
AUTOLOGIN_AUTHID_KEY02 8416513
AUTOLOGIN_AUTHID_KEY03 8416513
AUTOLOGIN_AUTHID_KEY04 8416513

AUTOLOGIN_ID_KEY01 6513@your.sip.domain.goes.here
AUTOLOGIN_ID_KEY02 6500@your.sip.domain.goes.here
AUTOLOGIN_ID_KEY03 6525@your.sip.domain.goes.here
AUTOLOGIN_ID_KEY04 126513@your.sip.domain.goes.here

AUTOLOGIN_PASSWD_KEY01 6513
AUTOLOGIN_PASSWD_KEY02 6513
AUTOLOGIN_PASSWD_KEY03 6513
AUTOLOGIN_PASSWD_KEY04 6513

#***********

In the above example, the UEXT TN has the following DNs programmed:
Key 0 SCR 6513
key 1 HOT U
key 2 scr 126513
key 3 mcr 6500
key 4 scr 6525

my lhk and is set to 2.

The SIPU is 8416513, and the SCPW is 6513.

I also have this in my deviceConfig.dat file: AUTOLOGIN_ENABLE 2

First thank you for your reply;

What about if I need to have more than 1 key for the same SIPU/DN?

Again, I'm not sure that is possible.

In my example above, my prime dn is 6513, and my rollover dn is 126513. This allows me to handle 2 inbound calls to my prime dn (the 2nd call to 6513 will ring on 126513).

Remember, these are still really PBX phones, not Key system phones where you just add additional intercom keys. You need to have a dn for each key. Even if you were able to put the same dn on multiple keys, if that dn is an SCR, then a single call will cause all appearances to appear busy.

Try setting the same DN as an MCR key instead of SCR. Can you tell us what the reason is for the same appearance twice? We use the same rollover set up as Allenmac and that works very well at handling multiple inbound calls.

Allenmac : Sounds good I'll try that and I'll keep you posted.
Trvlr1: I use to manage VOIP Pbx like Asterisk, Trixbox, shortel,... Adding multiple keys to the same Extension does not require a lot of configuration so this is why I'm trying to understand the concept from Avaya's expert users like you and Allenmac.

Thank you again for your replies.

I understand why he would want the same number on both keys...it is less confusing for people. What I don't understand is that I have been testing a SIP 1230 phone. the phone has an MCR on key 0 and key 1. On the phone only key 0 has a DN on it. I place a first call and I am able to answer it on the SIP phone. If i place another call I can see the call coming in but can't answer it. The answer button does not work. Anyone else try this?

If you want the same extension on multiple phones or multiple extensions on the same phone, it is better to stick with UNIStim instead of SIP.
