One of our users receives the following message when they access their voicemail box - "The system was unable to reach the number you specified for message notification". A google search lead me to the forums here and it looks like the mailbox is trying to make an outbound call to notify the user that they have a new message.

We don't need this functionality, and want to turn it off so the message will go away. I've looked at the mailbox settings under Ftr 983 and the extension settings under Ftr **266344 but didn't see anything there that looks like its related to message notification.

Under vmail administration (Ftr 983), I see that outdial is disabled, which I'm assuming is what's causing the error, but instead of enabling that, I want to turn off the notification.

Any help is appreciated.

Log in to the VM box. Select option 8 (mailbox options), then 6 (message notification menu), then 2 to deactivate message notification.

It never did work...the mailbox was only recently put into use, and it's always had this problem. I assume that either myself or the user somehow inadvertently turned on the notification option, which started causing the problem.
