Our voicemail system is not recognizing a newly initialized mailbox.

Action: I have initiatlized a new voicemail box on our system. The user can access the voicemail system to check for messages and her name also shows up in the company directory. However, when an external nor an internal caller attempts to call her phone and she doesn't answer the call the phone does not transfer that call over to voicemail so the caller can leave a message. Since this is a new voicemail box and it is initialized the only other item mentioned in the troubleshooting guide we have is whether all the voicemail minutes are taken up in the system. We can not check this as we are not able to run reports/print. Is there anyone who has other troubleshooting ideas? Could it be something else?

On the system (Norstar) for the extension enable cfna to voicemail

Press Ftr985, and in the display you will see the Vmail DN. As the other two posts point out, enter Norstar programming and make sure the problem DN is CFNA to Vmail DN.

Adversity is Opportunity

I am a beginner in administrative programming. I followed the directions from "Deweyhumbot" which shows me the DN# is the same number we use to access our voicemail system "400". When I use this number it does not allow the user to initialize their mailbox. When I use the users extension number as the "ext" as well as the "DN" number it allows them to access the mailbox and their name is in the company directory but we still can not get it to access the voicemail box. I have set up many extensions following the same process and I have never come across this before. Is it possible we are out of space on our voicemail minutes? We are working at near capacity on our system.

Not likely. The call forwarding everyone's talking about is in telephone system programming, not voice mail programming.

Press feature **266344, then the installer password. Under Terminals and Sets, CFNA is under Capabilities.

YES!!! That worked....Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

ok.. noob question.... how do i find the installers password? (we are haveing the same problem with voicemail)

The installers used the (administrative) default passwords that are in your manuel titled, "Getting started with Norstar" on page 7 (A Map for working in programming). It would also be in the original set of paperwork from the installers. In our area they put these in a red folder with all original installation set up information for your entire system.

Right. This site frowns on posting passwords- for good reason. If the default config uration password isn't working for you, there is a debug faq on this site ;)
