Hi Folks,

Anybody have any problems with the new(er) T7406E phone? One of my customers gets horrible echo when there is background noise, and the microphone seems to be too sensitive. Sometimes they can barely carry on a conversation. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have installed a few t7406e's and have found the microphones in the new models to be considerably more sensitive.

Bad news. I sold one to a client (as part of a package with 5 T7316e's and a CICS) for his home / small business.

He complained almost immediately of poor quality sound on the cordless. I went back and listened to it. I agreed it sounded bad. We played with numerous settings such as noisy location etc. Not able to make any major improvements.

Finally I ordered him a 7406 non E. Got that here and used TCM port 1, since there was only 1 handset. Wow. This thing sounded like bacon frying in your ear!

At that point I drove to my supplier (2 hours away) and swapped it out for another 7406 non E. I got that one home and it too sounded horrible.

In the mean time, the customer was regularly calling me for status updates.

Finally, in a desperate state, I moved the cord to TCM port 2, and assigned the handset to be #2, and the 7406 came around and actually sounded pretty good.

I dropped it off at his place and havent heard any complaints yet. Whew.

The 7406e is now residing at my home, I'm using it here since I don't have the original packaging to return it in. I find that if you speak softly into it, it's not too bad, but it's not great either. I may blow it out to someone at a little over my cost. The buttons are tiny and annoying to use. The non E version is a nicer phone I think.

Best thing to do....have your client purchase a nice cordless, and connect it to the I-ATA port so it will become ext 37, assign some lines to line pools, and have ext 37 be able to access the line pools. Theres no call ID, and there are some other limitations, but at least it works pretty decent and sound quality is good.
