Where do the System ID's in the MISC 4.1 and later reside?

What causes a system ID to change?

I have a MICS cabinet that had at one time 7.1 software and the system ID noted before it was placed on the shelf. For whatever reason that 7.1 software and NVRAM were removed and used elsewhere. I installed 4.1 software and a different NVRAM and, to my suprise, a new system ID popped up.

Thanks...

So no chance to recoup the old sys ID? The old sys ID, of course, had a PRI enabler key code associated.

Any way to have a new generated without having to repurchase? We still have the old sys ID and the 24 didget keycode noted.
