Norstar PRI/ATA problem

Ok, this is a strange one. Recently, we installed a PRI on a Norstar MICS phone system. The customer has a call in system called MITC that their employees use to call in on. Instead of making the customer buy POTS lines for that, we install 4 ATA's on the PRI. We have those 4 ATA's going to extensions 265, 266, 267, 268. In that order. Assigned to those lines are target lines with DID's assigned to them. Line 254 is assigned to ext. 265. 255 is assigned to 267 and so on. We have tried setting them to public and to private to the corresponding extension. The extensions are set to forward on busy and forward no answer to the next extension to create a circular hunt. So here is what happens: When someone calls the first number in the group, it rings the receptionist (ext. 210) and the fax machine, which is also on an ATA. We have tried assigning the lines to the ext's in terminals and sets, but to no avail. The receptionist and the fax ext have no other lines assigned to them. Please someone shine some light on this subject! Thanks in advance!

It rings the receptionists phone + the fax + the first ATA. We are not understading why, even with these DIDs set to private for the mentioned extensions, why when we call the DID of the first ATA, it rings to the receptionists desk and the fax machine.

I have rebooted the phone system thinking maybe that was the problem, but it did not fix it. I have set the DID's for the extensions to private only that extension, which it still rings at the other locations also. I have made sure that the reception and fax extensions do not have the wrong lines on them. I have spent a few hours on this.

If anyone has any ideas why this is happening, your help is much appreciated 8)

There are a number of things that might be involved, and without seeing everything, I can only guess. The first thing that comes to mind is this: By default, ALL lines (even target lines)and ALL phones are in ring group one. Check services and service modes. Maybe those new ATA's in ring group 1 are jazzing things up. I always build/use ring group 2 to avoid that issue and abandon group 1 altogether. Also, look at the hunt groups to see if someone, in the past, built a hunt group with your new ATA's in there.

1.ata is a SINGLE line device.
2.Norstars dont do circular hunt/fna

You could try assigning target line to each device with out fna/hunt

you could assign to a hunt group

Thanks! We put it in a hunt group and it seems to be working. If I have anymore problems, I know where to go!

You can put a did on an ATA set it to FWD no Answer and forward busy to the next ATA and so on and so on.It will roll or hunt to the next ATA.And if you want circle it back around to the original.

We actually originally had it set up to FWD no Answer and FWD on Busy to the next ATA in line, we were still having problems...

Did you the Target line programmed to A&R, or Ring Only?
Your Int paths should be set to 1, and your target to Ring only. If you leave Int paths at the default of 2, you will get calls going to the receptionist.

Lugerlover's right, though. This is what hunt groups were made for.
