Someone deleted the ringer from my phone. I am unable to see the called id. It seems that I do not see the caller id unless I have a ringer.
I can not figure how to add the ringer with the current sytem I have. I go to the **266344, enter the password, then enter the set number I get terminal and sets, I enter the set number but It does not take me anywhere to add sound to the line. I can select the ringer and also the loudness, and that deals with the internal calls, but I can not figure how to make my phone ring with incoming calls.

Sounds like you should be calling a tech.
Its under Set/Line Access

I had complained about my phone ringing, the technician spent 4 hours in my office, calling I guess Norstar to get support (he was on the line most of the time, he finally he changed it to what I wanted, no ringing, but he did not say it would also block the caller id. the bill was $600.00. When I called to ask him why there was no caller ID he mentioned that I needed the ringer to get the caller id. I am not calling him to reset the ringer not at $600.00 plus, that is absurd. It should take 20 minutes to do. I coudl see a charge for travel time plus the time it takes to fix wich should be no more than 30 minutes or so for someone who should know what to do.

I will review the manual until I figure how to do it. It is not that difficult and I do not see paying travel time plus learning time at that rate.

Sounds like you have been ripped off, I hope you fight that with every once of energy.
Also a client should never have to pay for support when a tech is not in the know unless its a bigger problem.
When I was a rookie I was smart enough not to bill for using my call a friend option lol.

To remove ringing from a set takes 13 seconds.

You need to get into Configuration programming and not Administration.
Once your in got to Sets/2??/LineAccess/LineAssignment/ show line 001 and set to Appear and Ring, then line 002 and so on.

Or just program a Caller ID button on your set since you didnt want it to ring to begin with.
F811 then press the flashing line to see the caller id.
Caller ID is sent between the 1st and 2nd ring so time it right.

What city are you in?
You need to find a vendor and get a RAD installed so it can be programmed remotely.

Also its not a Flash system, your voice mail might be a Flash.

I have to agree with curly that's one bill I don't think I would pay. even if the tech did not know how to spell Norstar and had to call the home office it's still no more than a 15 to 20 minute call.

I'm the other side of the pond and I also agree that you were ripped off. Make that company explain their reasons why they charged you that high amount.

All the best
