Our company currently uses a Norstar MICS with a T1 connection for our phone service. Our phone company (ATT) wants to get rid of this T1 line and move our internet and phone onto the same, faster Fiber Optic service. Are there any issues to be aware of when making this change? Will the ATT router handle the conversion of the analog lines to data or is that all done by the MICS? I'm not super familiar with telephony and even less familiar with the Norstar systems. Thanks in advance.

AT&T should provide the same interface as before using an Adtran or similar device.

Interesting, do you think that newer AT&T hardware might have this capability built in? Thank you for your help!

What capability built into what?

The carrier supplies your signal.
The Adtran converts/shares the signal.

The Adtran has T1/PRI port and/or Analog ports on it that would go to your PBX or analog jacks direct.

If you use the analog ports on the Adtran then you must program the Adtran.
If you use the PBX to handle your analog devices (faxes etc) then you program the PBX....in the case of Norstar/BCM that would mean Target Lines told to point to the Analog converters (ATA's)

"Will the ATT router handle the conversion of the analog lines to data or is that all done by the MICS?"
You have it backwards....you said you have a T1 which would be data and not analog.
The carrier in the case of T1/PRI/SIP supplies data.

Sounds like you need to get in touch with AT&T and ask what is required from you and your PBX.
